PROCESS AUDITING

Abstract

A review of the types of auditing, the different phases of an audit, and the scheduling and planning of the audit. Why and how to develop a checklist and an overview of audit objectives. Why do a process audit? A discussion of the process approach and how the process approach is an improvement over the element by element type of audit.

Examples of process audits, using a tree diagram, process models, process inputs, adding value and process outputs. A step by step breakdown and analysis of a process audit, and a comparison of the conventional audit vs the process audit. A discussion of a product audit and how the system, process and product audits work together to drive continuous improvement.

A review of some actual process audits and using the process mapping procedure and the system audit and process audit checklist. A review of process maps and the advantages of the process map over conventional procedures, reducing documentation by as much as 50%.

Bio

Jack Reardon is a consultant with Quality & Productivity Solutions, Inc. ; a consulting and training firm specializing in ISO, Six Sigma, Lean and Business improvements. Jack has over 30 years experience in Quality Management in various industries and have developed Quality systems for large and small industries. He is well experienced in process based auditing, ISO 9001:2000, ISO/TS 16949:2002 and Process approach. He has held number of positions within ASQ including Worcester section chair. He is NEQC Treasurer for YR 2004-2005.
