Supplier Monitoring and Certification - More than Quality & Delivery

David Potty, Consultant
Value Added Quality Services
72 Stoney Brook Drive Whitinsville, Ma 01588
dpotty@VAQS.com

This presentation was set up to give the recipient a better method of dealing with suppliers. Suppliers should be considered part of your operations. You should be creating a partnership with your suppliers and trying to manage risk. Monitoring of those suppliers is critical. Suppliers can make or break your ability to meet your customer’s requirements.

Taking it to the next level of certification is a lot of work and it is not a cheap program. Certification requires a much higher quality level. You have to be careful not to transfer problems from incoming to in process. That could create a problem later in the operation which could be disastrous.

This presentation will give an overview of:
• How to set up a Monitoring program
• How to maintain a Monitoring program
• How to set up a Certification program
• How to maintain a Certification program

Presenter:

David Potty is a consultant with Value Added Quality Services. For over 25 years he has been in the Quality field holding positions including Quality Manager and Supplier Quality Engineer.

He is a senior member of the American Society of Quality (ASQ), a 6-sigma black belt, and has the following certifications from ASQ CQMgr, CQE and CQA. The types of industries that he has been involved with range from Medical Device to High Tech to Service Industries. One of his primary tasks when working for these companies has been working with suppliers from working in incoming inspection to starting and controlling a supplier certification program. This program saved the company time and money by reducing the amount of Incoming Inspection that needed to be done. He has also done extensive supplier auditing. David has seen the evolution of supplier management from incoming inspection to supplier certification.
