The quality plan if done well will focus the team and management on the whole picture
by integrating the development lifecycle, the test process and the product/customer
requirements within the framework of a quality assurance perspective. The presentation
introduces the concept of quality planning and its relationship to the product/customer
requirements, development lifecycle and the test process.
It starts with the key elements of a quality planning and its benefits to the delivery
of a software product. Next it defines quality objectives and how to derive them
from the product / customer requirements using a “just enough” balanced approach.
It then introduces the concept and methods to validate the lifecycle and the process
that will ensure the quality objectives are met.
The relationship of a quality plan to the test plan is discussed with details and
example templates of each are presented.
The take away message is that the quality plan can tie it all together and sustain
a quality assurance drive throughout a project.
