    Without a doubt, the Sarbanes-Oxley Law (SOX) is the most important piece of legislation affecting corporate governing, financial disclosure, and public accounting since the U.S. securities laws of the early 1930’s. CEOs and CFOs of public companies must now certify their organization’s financial statements. This course will explain how these new requirements can be supported by an effective QMS / EMS system.

    Seminar instructor: Dr. Sandford Liebesman had over 30 years experience in quality at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies and Bellcore (Telcordia). He is an ISO 9000 subject matter expert and is author of the books TL 9000, Release 3.0: A Guide to Measuring Excellence in Telecommunications, 2nd Edition and Using ISO 9000 to Improve Business Processes. He is a member of ISO Technical Committee 176 and the ANSI Z-1 Committee on Quality Assurance, is certified by the ASQ Registrar Accreditation Board as an ISO 9000 Lead auditor, has performed over 90 ISO 9000 and TL 9000 audits and helped many Lucent organizations obtain ISO 9000 and TL 9000 certifications. He currently is a quality management system consultant with Sandford Quality Consulting LLC and the Kohl Group and an auditor with KEMA Registered Quality. He is leading the SOX_Q/E Team in support of the Sarbanes-Oxley Law.

    Instructor John Walz had over 20 years experience in quality at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and SBC (AT&T). He is a subject matter expert in ISO 9000, TL 9000, BS 7799, IEEE, and CMMI standards and is author of the books TL 9000 Quality Management Standard for Telecommunications chapter in ISO 9000 Handbook, Fourth Edition, QSU Publishing Company 2002; Practical CMMI Software Process Documentation- Using IEEE Software Engineering Standards, John-Wiley/IEEE Press, Nov-05; and upcoming book Practical ISO 9001 Software Process Documentation- Using IEEE Software Engineering Standards, John-Wiley/IEEE Press, Sep-06. John is a member of US TAG to ISO Technical Committee 176 and the ANSI Z-1 Committee on Quality Assurance. He heads a new Z-1 project on CMMI / ISO 9001. He currently is a quality management system consultant with The Sutton Group and an instructor for ASQ.
