Attendees will learn ways to reduce the risks to their revenue that could be caused by enforcement actions or marketplace uncertainties as the global economy transitions to RoHS compliance.

This ½ day session we will provide you with tools, methodologies, and best practices that will enable you to:

  • Develop a transition strategy
  • Identify critical steps to meet OEM and supplier “due diligence” obligations
  • Asses risks from RoHS and other legislative initiatives in North America
  • Develop a step-by-step compliance plan
  • Tips for balancing financial risks and operational costs
  • Execute your plan
    Attendees will also learn:
  • To understand basic RoHS and WEEE terminology and concepts
  • To reduce the likelihood of excess and obsolete inventory caused by the transition
  • To reduce the uncertainty of continuity of supply to your company
  • To reduce the reliability and quality risks associated with transitioning to compliant electronic parts and lead-free solders
  • To develop an understanding of the documents and records that must be collected and maintained including supplier compliance, validation, or exemptions
  • To develop a clear understanding of the requirements of due diligence required by the directive
  • To effectively audit key suppliers and EMS companies alleviate non-compliance risks and understand your legal obligations in validating their compliance

Seminar instructor: Glenn Tanzman is the Managing Partner of Tanzco Management Consulting, Poughkeepsie N.Y. He has an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BS in Chemistry from CCNY. Glenn teaches Operational Excellence in the MBA program at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. In over 34 years in manufacturing, he has held positions as Quality Manager, Director of Materials Management, Director of Operations, Plant Manager, and VP of Manufacturing at companies including Avon Products, Swingline, Blumberg/Excelsior, and Zumtobel Staff Lighting.Glenn has obtained CPIM certification from the Association for Operations Management (APICS) and has written courses in Warehouse Management and Inventory Management offered by Hudson Valley Technology Development Center (HVTDC) and Industrial Technological Assistance Corporation (ITAC-NYC). He is a senior member of both SME and IIE and a certified manufacturing engineer (CMfgE-SME). Glenn is an ISO 9001 Certified Lead Auditor and has achieved the RABQSA-OI level as a Business Improvement QMS Auditor.
