John Bergeron, Director, Whole Life Engineering Directoriate (WLED)

Speaker October 19, 2010; “Quality, Reliability & Risk Management During Product Life Cycle”

John P. Bergeron is director of the Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) in Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Engineering. In this role, he is responsible for IDS mission ownership functions from concept through disposal to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the life cycle.

Mr. Bergeron’s experience includes six years of electrical engineering for power plant design, control and protection (gas, steam, nuclear). Responsibilities included integrated design for plants ranging from 40-500 MW located domestically and internationally.

While he was in field services, John was responsible for operation & maintenance of the Yale University state-of-the-art power plant upgrade. This performance based logistics contract included Reliability and Availability customer commitments. Following this assignment, John led the new technology installation team for GE’s state-of-the-art steam cooled gas turbine system to achieve thermal efficiency.

John achieved Six Sigma Black Belt certification while working at one of GE Energy’s largest customers to support a fleet of power generation turbines.

Most recently, John was a Six Sigma quality leader for GE’s newest business, GE Water & Process Technologies. He was responsible for Lean processes and integration for 5 business acquisitions over a three-year period.

Mr. Bergeron received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont. He resides in Littleton, Massachusetts with his wife and 3 children.
